SCENARIO
Recently, you were hired as the new Quality Improvement Director for a 600-bed acute care hospital. Prior to hiring you, the hospital did not have anyone to spearhead quality improvement initiatives. You have decided that your first duty as Quality Improvement Director would be to advocate for quality management and how it can impact the hospital.
As part of your new role as Quality Improvement Director, you are responsible for attending monthly departmental director meetings ran by the hospital’s chief executive officer (CEO), Dr. Maria Gonzalez. You approach Dr. Gonzalez prior to the meeting and ask if you can create a digital resource for educate department heads on quality management. Dr. Gonzalez thinks this is a good idea and gives you permission to do so. You immediately begin to work on your digital resource to give a general overview of quality management to the hospital’s department directors.
INSTRUCTIONS
Create a digital resource that:
- Assesses quality and risk management initiatives that supports and promotes the organizational safety and quality.
- Recommends communication and teamwork strategies to engage the hospital’s various stakeholders.
- Evaluates the impact of Medicare’s Quality Payment Program on the hospital and the reporting of quality measures.
