Instructions
For your Signature Assignment, you will synthesize information discussed in this course in the form of a
presentation suitable for an audience of business professionals interested in learning more about the use of
applied statistics in I/O psychology. Your final deliverable for this Signature Assignment must be formatted as a
PowerPoint presentation, which includes audio or video narration.
Be sure your PowerPoint presentation, which should include 14 to 16 slides, addresses the following:
A discussion of why statistics are important in I/O.
A discussion of implications (ethical, diversity, legal, practical) of working with organizational “big”
data.
A description of the difference between descriptive and inferential statistics.
An original example of how descriptive statistics are used in a current workplace situation and at least one
graph demonstrating how results would be presented in that situation.
Note that this example should not be taken directly from the course materials.
Descriptions of two different types of inferential tests discussed during class.
A discussion of the types of data appropriate for each test (i.e., nominal, ordinal, interval, or
ratio).
An original research question and specific example applying each test to the analysis of
employee/organizational data.

A description of each of the variables involved in your research question and how each variable
will be measured.
At least one graph demonstrating how results from one of your inferential analyses would be
presented.
A discussion of any ethical concerns that need to be considered for each of the research examples.
