The objective of this discussion is to help graduate-level students in the aviation/aeronautics discipline develop a research question using ChatGPT, a powerful natural language processing tool. Students will experience refining their research questions based on the feedback provided by ChatGPT.
According to CNBCLinks to an external site., ChatGPT and AI are the newest job skills valued by employers. This assignment will not only start you on your final project in this course. But it will also require you to think critically by revising what comes out of AI to meet your project’s needs.
Instructions:
- Familiarize yourself with ChatGPT by reading articles or watching videos that explain how it works. Read, Introducing GPT-4, OpenAI’s most advanced system/OpenAI.Links to an external site.
- Choose a broad topic area in the aviation/aeronautics discipline you are interested in researching. For example, you might choose the topic of aircraft safety or air traffic control systems or something relevant to your professional career.
- Use ChatGPT to generate a list of possible research questions related to your chosen topic area.
- Choose one or two research questions from your list that you are most interested in pursuing further.
- Refine your research question using the feedback provided by ChatGPT. ChatGPT may suggest modifications to your research question, such as refining it to be more specific or providing relevant keywords to use in your search.
- Write a research topic proposal that outlines the research question you have developed, the process you went through to refine it using ChatGPT, and the data you plan to use to answer your research question. Include an explanation of why your research question is important and relevant to the aviation/aeronautics discipline.
- Download the full context of your interaction with ChatGPT. You can do this by opening a document and selecting the clipboard icon in the upper right-hand corner of each interaction you have with ChatGPT. You must attach the ChatGPT interaction document to your discussion post so I can see your process of refining your research question and receive full credit.
