This is a Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) assignment.

Throughout this course, you will work in a CLC group on a strategic case analysis project. This project consists of different parts you will complete each week that build on each other.
Go to the Strategy Club website and review the sample “Strategic Plan for Sanderson Farms” (2020) and “Juniper Networks” (2020) under the student resources section. This sample strategic plan is an example of what your completed strategic case analysis should look like at the end of the course.

Follow the directions and steps listed below to complete the assignment deliverable. These steps are provided to assist you in delivering appropriately complete work.

Part I: Financial Ratio Analysis
Perform a Financial Ratio Analysis on your CLC group’s company . Complete the following:

  • Step 1: Using the resources listed in Table 4-8 in Chapter 4 of Strategic Management: A Competitive Advantage Approach, Concepts, and Cases research and find as many financial ratios as possible for your CLC group’s company. Be sure to record your sources.
  • Step 2: Open your Strategic-Planning Template. Click on the Ratios tab at the bottom of the template.
  • Step 3: Use the pertinent data on your company to complete the Historical Ratios Table in your Strategic-Planning Template.
  • Step 4: Prepare a report (500-750 words) detailing the information you have researched as well as discussing the implications of what the findings mean regarding strategy creation.

Part II: Internal Factor Evaluation Matrix
Construct an IFE Matrix by doing the following:

  • Step 1: See Chapter 4 of Strategic Management: A Competitive Advantage Approach, Concepts, and Cases to learn how to complete an IFE Matrix.
  • Step 2: Open your Strategic-Planning Template. Click on the IFE tab at the bottom of the template.
  • Step 3: Use the pertinent data on your company to complete the IFE Matrix in your Strategic-Planning Template.
  • Step 4: In a brief explanation (250-300 words), discuss the findings and implications of the data identified in the IFE.

Deliverables

  • Part I: Submit Historical Ratio Table.
  • Part I: Research Report (500-750 words) including a discussion of the implications the findings mean regarding strategy creation.
  • Part II: Submit IFE Matrix.
  • Part II: Brief explanation (250-300 words) of the findings and implications of the data identified in the IFE.
  • Additionally, address the following prompts (250-500 words): What strategies do you think would allow the firm to capitalize on its major strengths? What strategies would allow the firm to improve on its major weaknesses?

Additional Information for the Deliverable(s)
Submit the Strategic Planning Template with the completed Historical Ratios Table and IFE Matrix as well as a single Word document containing the written analyses to the digital classroom.

All analysis in the paper should be substantiated with a minimum of five relevant and credible sources in support of your content. Credible sources need to be relevant to the assessment and can include GCU Library databases, corporate websites and peer-reviewed sources, or those provided in the topic Resources.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
