Reflect:

• This journal assignment is an opportunity to reflect on what you have learned about ethical foundations and theories.
• The following are examples that may be used as a starting point when writing your reflection:
• Consider what theoretical foundation the agency’s ethics policy is based on and how that might influence (positively or negatively) the way agency personnel do their jobs.
  • Consider whether the agency’s ethics are reflected in the agency’s culture and priorities.
  • Knowing yourself, think about how the agency’s ethics, culture, and priorities fit with your personal belief system. Would you be a good fit ethically for this organization?
    • For example, look at the priorities of United States Customs and Border Protection and the work they do on immigration at the border. If you strongly believed in the humanitarian issues of asylum seekers as opposed to border security issues, would there be a conflict between what you believe and the work you would be asked to do?
