A student will be assigned a week to role play as a therapist with a family/couple. The therapist will submit their theory overview, clinical impressions of the family and their presenting problem(s). This is due the following Sunday by 11:59 pm. For this assignment you will:
- Add content to an evolving Family Theory Worksheet. This worksheet will serve a reference guide for you and your classmates as we move through the course.
- When completed it will student summarized history of the various family theories / treatment modalities presented in this course.
- The student will open the linked document provided by the instructor and add a theory overview that highlights the key components for the week and its application to families.
- This overview will be brief (1 to 2 paragraphs) and focused on critical elements from that weeks reading.
- When completed it will student summarized history of the various family theories / treatment modalities presented in this course.
- Include a clear and concise description of the following written in a professional manner:
- General appearance, general behavior and attitude, level of insight, reasoning, judgment, and observation of affect.
- Provide a clear and concise description of the following from each client’s perspective written in a professional manner:
- Presenting problem, history of the presenting problem, the onset of symptoms, and their reported impact on daily functioning, solutions attempted (including previous therapy), and quality of interpersonal relationships.

- Recent life changes/precipitating events (if any), changes sought by clients, strengths of the family, barriers to treatment, and what the family values.
- Provide appropriate and evidence based change strategies which align with the week’s readings for working with the proposed family / couple vignette which address in a presenting problem(s) in a clear, concise and professional manner.
