Your Task:
- Choose a series of 10 songs or tracks available on the internet (that are easily
accessible for your instructor — YouTube, Spotify, Bandcamp or Soundcloud) that you
want to include for this project. Include a separate link for each. If you make a playlist
on YouTube or Spotify, please include the entire playlist link as well.
a. Selections can be any music with a connection to this course – consider our
journey from Bebop to Hip-Hop. This can include music we explored in our weekly
modules, but does not have to include that music. This can also be music we did not
specifically explore, as long as there is a connection to this class. If we had more time,
we’d investigate more Blues, R&B, Soul, Afrobeat, among other genres. - Come up with a creative title. (What is your mixtape called?)
- Justify why you are including each selection by writing 50+ words for EACH
selection. Think of this like adding liner notes to an album. In the end you will have
500+ words. In these short paragraphs that represent each selected piece, be sure to
include information that addresses the following:
a. Why you chose the piece (What makes it special?)
b. How it fits with the context of material explored in our class
c. The link to the piece and all relative information (title, artist, year, genre, and
country of origin, language) - You can submit this directly in assignment text or as an attached document. If you
would like to share your playlist with the class, please do so in the Discussion Board
