The European Union

Module 10

The European Union

Some of the questions that might guide you in creating your infographic include (but are not limited to):

  • Is your chosen country part of the European Union?
  • If so, describe the background of their joining the EU.  When did they join?
  • What roles has the country played in the EU?
  • What are the attitudes of the people in the country about EU membership?  See if you can find recent public opinion polls on whether they feel like citizens of Europe?
  • What have been some effects of EU policy on the country?  Has EU membership been a net benefit for the country or not?
  • Are there any important interactions, contributions, or controversies (such as a case before the Europe Court of Justice) regarding the country’s involvement in the EU?
  • Is this country also a member of the Euro Zone?

If your chosen country is not part of the EU, use the following questions as a guide.

  • What is their relationship with the EU?
  • Are they part of the Schengen Zone?
  • Has the country considered EU membership?  Why or why not?
  • Is there a good argument for joining the EU?  Is there a good argument against joining the EU?
  • What are the opinions of the people in your country about the European Union? Are there regions of the country more in favor of EU membership than others?

Also:

  • Make sure to include a section at the bottom with properly formatted citations for all sources used in your research, as well as credit for photos and images.  Make sure to use accurate and credible sources.
  • As always, proofread and edit your infographic for grammar, spelling, and clarity.
