Lesson Study versus a Research Lesson Lesson study is the process used to enhance teaching and learning, as described in this course. The research lesson is the actual classroom lesson during which attending teachers study how students are thinking, reacting and learning, including such things as engagement, behavior, etc. They also study how the teacher is teaching, including awareness of how the teaching is impacting students, how the teacher responds to student questions, etc. Part 1: Use the chart below to identify the differences and the connections between lesson study and the research lesson. Think about what came before the lesson, what happens during the lesson, and what comes after. Part 2: Design a graphic image to represent the relationship between the two terms. Think conceptually about the relationship of the research lesson to the research theme.
